Karma Haveli 27 April to 4 May 2019
What a wonderful place India is. For our first visit to India we landed directly in Jaipur to be met by our Karma driver Mr Singh, a gentleman we would have with us for our week in Jaipur.
After a delightful drive via the coloured lights of the Pink City on our arrival at Karma Haveli late in the evening Martin our guest relations contact had stayed back to greet us along with Muhdi from the reception staff. During our stay Muhdi was of great assistance and nothing was too much trouble for her.
This hospitality seemed infectious and was strong across all the team from restaurant, cleaning, security and every team member we had contact with. Dashraj in the restaurant guided us through an excellent range of Rajasthan food for breakfasts, lunches and dinner when we ate on site.
Mr Singh along with some very knowledgeable local guides gave us a real insight into the life of the people both today and back in the days of the Maharajas. Our visits to the Pink City Amber Fort and Taj Mahal were absolute highlights of this very special part of Rajasthan.
The highway drive from Pink City of Jaipur to Agra is what I will call a real road trip. The sights along the way provided a small window into rural India. The sounds of the tooting horns to let others know “I am here” and this in turn lubricates gaps that barely existed before. True co-operation.
There are so many amusing signs to westerners or non Indian eyes such as the hand painted “Horn Do Please” on many of the larger vehicles or the fully laden buses with people on top or the “pukka trucks” (Indian School Buses) with school boys standing on the running boards.
We would like to say thank you to Karma for making this a wonderful holiday.
