Our wonderful holiday in Goa – Haathi Mahal.
Several years ago we came for the first time to Goa – Haathi Mahaal and enjoyed it. It was always on our ‘To Do’ list to go back there. Last year we booked and this January 2016, on a cold Monday morning, we boarded the plane in Brussels to Mumbai and on to Goa. Goa here we come .......
After we landed in Goa airport, a friendly taxi driver came to pick us up ( all organized by staff from the resort ), and an hour later we were at our destination.
From the entrance gate to the lobby and reception area, it all looked very clean and welcoming (just as we remembered from last time). We were welcomed by friendly ladies at the reception desk, who told us that our villa was not ready yet (it was only 08.00 am), but they would do their outmost best to accommodate us as soon as possible. No problem, we might as well start our holiday right here and now, enjoy the sun, a cool drink by the pool, a light lunch .... Belgium was far from our mind, this was heaven, sun, sun, and more sun (only those who come from the Northern hemisphere can understand this feeling of bliss, having sun and No grey skies and rain). Just after lunch we were shown to our villa that was once again clean and well situated.
On our first Sunday evening there was ‘Carvery’ in the restaurant, nice food, a lot to choose from, friendly waiters and nice people whom we met already at the pool the day before. From the first day we felt right away at home again. The ‘theme’ evenings at the Restaurant were excellent - The Goan evening, superb food with typical Goan flavours. The Carnival evening most enjoyable and fun. And to top it all, these ‘Theme’ evening had an excellent live band playing music to everyone’s liking. The day that we didn’t feel like staying in the resort, we took a short walk to the beach and enjoyed the warm water of the Arabian Sea. To sum it up, we had a wonderful 2 weeks!!!! It was so long before we could visit Haathi Mahal this time, we will definitely put it again on our ‘To Do’ list for next time - Going to Goa - Haathi Mahal!
